    Brown vs Board of Education was filed against Topeka, Kansas school board of education by Oliver Brown. Brown was the parent of one of the many black student who were denied of access into to a white school.Mean while in Georgia the Sibley Commission was deciding if they should close schools or desegregate them. In the end the case stated that segregation in public schooling was unconstitutional and should be abolished. Georgia did not integrate until the late 1960's

    SCLC is the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. SCLC was created by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and many other reverands from around the South where segregation was taking place. The main goal of SCLC was to help end segregation by using the power of the lord and the strength of their faith.

    SNCC is the Student Nonviolent Cordinating Commitee. Similar to SCLC it was created by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. SNCC goal was to reach out to the younger generation of African Americans who didn't know much about segregation. Along with the Freedom Riders the Civil rights Movement was making signifigant progress in having equal rights for all.

    The Freedom Riders were a group of 13 African American and white people who rode the interstate buses to protest segregation in bus terminals. The Riders would disreguard the white or colored only signsand go where they pleased. Yes this caused alot of controversy but in also got the Riders the attention they needed to succeed at the desegregation.

Hamilton Holmea is now a orthopedic physician and Charlayane is an american journalist and a former foriegn correspondent for National Public Radio and Public Boardcasting Service.

    Ablany, Georgia has a rich history when it comes to segregation. In the fall of 1962- the summer of 1962 Martin tried to desegregate an entire community filled with the hatred of blacks. Really Martin came into play in December because hundreds of blacks had been arrested in one week. The Albany Movement was consisdered a failure because blany still had problems after Martin left .

    The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law by President Lyndon in 1964. The Civil Rights Act stated that discriminaton in public places, segregation in schools and public places and dicrimination in employment is illegal. With the Civil Rights Act blacks officially had all the rights and freedoms they deserved.

    In 1870 the 15th amendment to the Constitution was made it stated that all African American males had the right to vote. This Amendment along with the 19th gave all African Americans the right to vote. It was not until 1965 when blacks officially got the right to vote with out any form of restrictions . So when the President Lyndon signed the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which made all restrictions on the voting rights of blacks illgeal, African Americans rejoyced in hope of political freedom.
