On this ate and the following days Student/Children/Parents had marched Birmingham campaign was a movement organized by the Southern Christian. to lead the marchers to jail in solidarity, but hesitated as the planned date arrived. Demonstrators were given instructions to march to the downtown area. -

Groups of people traveled to washington, Black & White Men.
They where fighting for civil rights and The police had to bring out attack dogs to scare them off, and water hoes where used against the people marching. -
Voting Rights Act of 1965
On This Date President Lyndon Baines Johnson, signed the voting rights act. It outlawed the discriminatory voting practices adopted in many southern states.
