    Six hundred demonstrators gathered at the Edmund Pettus Bridge, but as they crossed the bridge, they were assaulted by state troopers, and that led to sympathy from all across America. One of the most violent things tto happen during the civil rights movement. This was political due to the fact that African Americans were trying to get voting rights, and were attacked by government state troopers in the process.
