Dred Scott
He was a slave who came to a free state with his owner, he sued for his freedom claimed that because he was in a free state now. But the Congress refused to give them citizenship because they said they were still slave even if they were in a free state. -
Jim Crow
After the Civil War, Southern States have to free the slaves and have equal right for black people. So then, Jim Crow was a name for the law they made to separate black and white people in public.
