The first congress
Delegates from all 13 colonies but Georgia had a meeting. They issued a declaration of rights. They also issued the Articles of Association. -
No taxation without representation
No taxation without representation was said by James Otis. The colonists were not allowed to choose representatives to parliament in London, which passed the laws under which they were taxed. -
Stamp act 1765
England made the colonies pay taxes on a bunch of printed items. The tax was used to help pay for the French and Indian War. -
Tea Act
England put a tax on the colonies tea. They weren’t feeling it so it led to the Boston tea party. -
Tea Party
It was a protest that followed all the taxes on tea. They dumped all the tea in the Boston Harbor. The tea party led to the American Revolution. -
Coercive Act
It was a set of laws that were passed for the colonies. 4 of the laws were just because and aimed at the Boston tea party. -

The second congress
The colonies met each other again after the war. They passed the declaration of independence on July 4.
