The Nintendo Wii
On November 16th, 2006, Nintendo released a gaming system labeled the Nintendo Wii. Shigeru Miyamoto and Genyo Takeda formed the console's unique development. The Wii was Nintendo's first home console to facilitate internet connectivity directly, enabling the digital distribution of games and media applications through the Wii Shop Channel. The Nintendo Wii was a worldwide success selling over 101 million units and was Nintendo's best selling console until 2021.
