    Columbus is born
    Christopher Columbus was born in the port town of Genoa in 1451. His father a weaver and a wool merchant. He did not get a proper education but did learn from monks.

    Christopher goes to sea

    Christopher went to sea for the first time at age thirthteen. He learnt that life at sea was a dangerous but rewarding. He hoped to become rich and famous so day. He learnt to navigate by looking at the sun and the stars.

    Christopher married a lady named Felipa Perestrella e Moniz. They lived in Portugal. She was the daughter of a Porto Santo governer and was Portugese nobleman

    Christopher's first child and first big voyage

    In 1480 Christopher had his first child, Diego. In the same year Columbus part took in his major voyage from Portugal to Iceland. On route to Iceland he docked in Galway.

    Columbus moves to Spain

    Columbus' wifes dies of TB (Tuberculosis) and he decides to move to Spain where he opens up a business selling maps and charts.

    Spain Backs Columbus

    Columbus with a keen interest in exploration looks to King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain to sponser him on a voyage to Asia and in return he promised new lands, spices and new people to rule. After long negotiations and a lot of convincing he achieved his goal of sponsorship.

    Columbus sets sail
    Columbus sets sail with three ships, The nina, The Pinta and the santa maria. Chrstopher set sail on the Santa Maria. Two months later in the month of October, Columbus discovered what he thought was Asia but was in fact the continent of America.

    Columbus returns to Spain

    Columbus sailed along the coast of what would become the Bahamas. Unfortunately he found nothing valuble and so decided to returrn to Spain.

    Final Voyage

    After being accused of crimes on previous travels he was found not guilty. The King agreed to pay for one last voyage but unfortuantely he did not find a way to Asia. What he thought was Asia was in fact America.

    Columbus died

    Columbus died
    Columbus' fourth and final journey was his return to Spain. He died at the Spanish court at Valladolid in 1506
