    He sailed for King Ferdinand II and Queen Isabella of Spain. The ships were the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. Landed on what is now known as San Salvador, and called the area the Indies and it's inhabitants Indians.

    After traveling to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and smaller Islands Columbus finally returned to Spain.

    Looking for gold and to capture Indians as slaves, Columbus sailed along the southern part of Cuba.

    Spotted and named the island of Dominica.

    Columbus sailed to Trinidad adn Venezuela. He was the first European since Viking Leif Ericsson to set foot on mainland America.
