    This is where Chris McCandless grew up. He was born in 1968 in El Segundo, California.His father Walt got a job to work with a company so they all moved to Annandale and settled down there.

    Chris attended the college of Emory University.He went to college in May of 1986 and finished in 1990. He attended it for four years. On Chris's senior year of college was when he moved into a apartment that only had basic necessities like water and electricity. Which was one of the last times his parents and sister saw him. They last saw him at his college graduation. Shortly after, he donated his twenty five thousand dollars in savings to charity.

    Chris's journey began in Dallas, Texas on June 30. He slept in his car throughout his trip out West. In Dallas is where Chris's money was stolen, in which he burned after he thought he did not need it any longer. He went on this journey all by himself, with very little.

    Chris's car was found after being tossed around in a flash flood with some of his stuff still in it. He was sleeping in his car by a desert when this happened. Mind you he as hydrophobia.

    After losing his car Chris hitchhiked up to Lake Tahoe all alone over the course of several months to get to his final destination, Alaska. An old hippie couple noticed Chris along the side of the road and offer him a ride. They took him to the beach where they provided him with food and shelter.

    Chris crosses paths with a man named Wayne Westerberg who gives him a ride and offers him a job to earn a little money.

    Chris met an old man by the name of Ron Franz. He gave him shelter and food for awhile. He even asked Chris if he could adopt him. Franz drove McCandless to Salton city where he left him to hitch hike to San Diego.

    Finally he made his way to Alaska. He spends 3 days a library in Fairbanks studying on edible plants and wildlife in Alaska. He also buys a used gun while being there.

    Chris got a ride from a man name Jim. He was the last person to see Chris before his death. Few miles in, he came across an abandoned bus that he slept in throughout his trip in Alaska. Chris spent the next five months living out of this bus in full on isolation all alone surviving off of animals and wild plants.Early August he was very ill. His last few journal entries are about how weak he was becoming. His last entry was a cry for help. He died of starvation. Died in August 1992.
