Journey
Chris sets out on his way out to the West . Yet trying to cross through Arizona a flood occured causing his car engine to blow and have to travel by leaving all his belongings behind. He attached a note stating who ever can get this car to run can have it, -
Set out
Changed his name to "Alex Supertramp" collected and wrote journals along the way. Began documenting his journey and the places he visitied and experienced. The journal also included postcards which some he sent out and some he just kept. -
Did you meet someone named Jan?
Hitchhiking across Arizona borders , Alex comes across a Lady by the name of Jan Burres. She was in the same predicament as Alex himself. She picked him up along the road . He soon became extremly close with her . He continued to send her postcards once he was no longer with him. He will never forget what she did for him . -
Hitchhiking again ?
Now Alex is present in South Dakota. He once again is traveling by foot when he meets someone who helps him, Wayne Westerburg who also not only picks him up but offers him a job working in Carthage with grain. He also gains a close relation to Wayne. Wayne allows Alex to reside in his home until futher notice. But all good things come to an end. Alex gets in trouble with the law and flees. -
Were not in the states anymore
Alex is now trying to enter the borders of Mexico traveling in a kayak. He catches a ride from the residents in Mexico. He resideds there for a short period of time. He enjoys the region and what it has to offer. Soon after Alex is ready for more adventure. He leaves what he had behind and tries to proceed to the states -
Ronald McDonald
Finally back into the Americas. He finds a trailier and starts his job at the one and only McDonald's. He continues to work there and gain a steady amount of money for a bank account. He is making burgers and frying french fries to help him gain money for his future travels. -
Back to the South
Franz the 80 year old man comes and picks up Alex and drives his to Colorado and within 3 days Alex was back in South Dakota (Carthage) he proceeds to work for Wayne with the grain who is no longer in prison -
Slim Jim
Just when we thought he stopped hitchhiking he meets a man named Jim. The connect from the minute they meet. Jim is also venturing throughout the woods and wilderness. He suggest that Alex should beome more prepared than he is. He accepts boots and other items from Jim to help better his chances of survival in Alaska. He reaches the Stampefe Trail -
Magic School Bus & A Moose
When crossing the Teklanika he discovers a abandoned bus. He writes in his journal that he find a "Magic Bus" .
Chris shot and killed Moose. It showed how skilled Chris was. The animal was a very big deal to him it showed what he could do. -

Not the easiest task
Hunting and looking for food is harder than is decived. Hunting takes lots of skill and patience. The wilderness is becoming more and more difficult. He has to eat wild vegetables and scavenge -
Sweet California
Alex is now presnt in Salton City, California, He is now hitchhiking again and meets another person by the name of Ronald Franz. He was a old man gray hair and just around 80 years old. Franz treated Alex like his own grandson which he never had and taught him valueable skills necessary to survive. He held back his trip to Alaska -
The accident that lead to his death
Alex continued to eat the vegetation across the areas. He stumbled upon some wild potatoes which he thought was harmless. Alex ate the seeds from the dead roots which were infused with poison, Which caused Alex to become ill. He was on the verge to starving to death with limited resources -
The jouney comes to an End
After surving in the wilderness Chris dies on the 112th day. He left a note saying " Goodbye and may God bless all". Alex was found dead in his sleeping bag on the bus, 6 people arrived to see what was left of the poor Alex. He has lived a happy life in pursuit of finding what made him happy. Which was being in the wilderness and expanding his range of living. He once said "Happiness doesnt remain in the 4 walls which you live in". -
The real journey
Chris finally sets off to were he was trying to reach since the beginning.... Alaska. He is now in Fairbanks . After long days of hitchiking and looking for transportation.
