Japan came into Nanking and started slaughtering citizens and ended up destroying the city. The Nationalists relocated cities to Wuhan but their troops disguised themselves as citizens to escape the city and were seen as cowards by the people. -
“Rectification program”
The “rectification program” was where China's students and intellectuals were sent to the country side to work in fields and be re-educated about "real China." -

many people were left in poverty due to Cultural Revolution, the education systems were set back for years, and economy collapsed and people who lived through the revolution were denied good careers. -
