Mao and other Communists take The Long March to north China and start to establish Communist rule. -
Battle of Nanking
Japan came into Nanking and started slaughtering citizens and ended up destroying the city. The Nationalists relocated cities to Wuhan but their troops disguised themselves as citizens to escape the city and were seen as cowards by the people. -
“Rectification program”
The “rectification program” was where China's students and intellectuals were sent to the country side to work in fields and be re-educated about "real China." -

The people's republic of China is announced. People had freedoms of a Republic but government failed to protect these freedoms. -

During the early part of the new China people who were thought to be spies or did not like the revolution were excecuted. About 28,332 people were excecuted. -
