    German immigrants played a significant role in the early European settlement of Australia, particularly South Australia.One of the main reasons the German immigrants was because of persecution in their home country which is Germany. Many of the early German settlers were farmers or traders such as carpenters and blacksmiths. By 1861 there was an estimated 10,000 Germans in Victoria Australia.

    In 1840 the Chinese Miners arrived in Australia to become workers. The Chinese population in Australia increased when they heard there was a discovery of gold. Eventually most of the Chinese went back to China because of the Anti-Chinese violence which broke out in Victoria and New South Wales. Most of the Chinese were sent back to their home country.
