I was born April 10th 1850 in china. life in China was a hardship. My parents kept on losing thier joba and once you lose you job its hard to find another one. We were once starved for a couple days. -
HISTORICAL EVENT 1:
There was nothing left for us at China anymore the only way of our survial was father sending money home from America. So we decided to go to America where we can find jobs and live a better life. It took us 18 days to travel to Angels Island. It was so exciting to see the Statue of Liberty. The other immigrants shouted of joy and clapped. -
HISTORICAL EVENT 2:
When we finally arrived at Angel Island there was long lines of immigrants. As I was walking to get in line we were stuyding hard questions the Americans might ask us, so we can pass. Many immigrants were rejected, because the hard questions or they failed the doctors examination. As we nearded the doctor examination the more nervois I got until finally It was my turn. the feeling of thier hands in my eyes was gross, but it was worth it, because we all passed, (mother and sister) -
HISTORICAL EVENT 3:
Our family loved America! I found a job, but my mother didn't because she has to take care of my sister and the jobs are dangerous. My first day of work was building skyscrapers. Many immigrants I became friends with fell to thier death right in from of me. I started to have nightmares a couple days after. -
HISTORICAL EVENT 4:
As we stayed longer into America life began to turn scary. Alot of Americans were beating up chinese immigrants. Until one day as I was walking home I was jumped and beaten up by a couple Americans. I tried to figt back, but there was too many of them. They stole my money and injured me badly, but a I was laying there one kind American came up to me gave me money and willing walked me home. -
HISTORICAL EVENT 5:
The tate at which we were making money made enough for us to stay at buildings called tendements. They were fiflthy and gross, They building had poor struture and on top of that it was too crowded and small for a family of three. My little sister said our house we had in China was better than this and we could barley afford it.
