    Taiping Rebellion

    Dubbed one of the deadilest millitary conflicts in history, the Taiping Rebellion a civil war in south China against the Manchus leading during the Qing Dynasty. The rebellion took place in efforts to reform the social issues in China. Things like replacing Confucianism, Buddhism, and Chinese religions for Christianity, equality for women, and shared property in commons.
  • Wuchang Uprising

    Wuchang Uprising
    Happened in Wuchang, Hubei, China. This uprsing started in retaliation to the way the railway crisis was handled and was used to overthrow the Qing Dynasty.This resulted in the forming of the Tongmenghui, also known as the Chinese United League.

    Seventeen Point Agreement with Tibet
    A document written by the 14th dalai lama which reached an agreement with the government to free Tibet. these were some of the points:
    1.The Tibetan people shall unite and drive out imperialist aggressive forces from Tibet; the Tibetan people shall return to the family of the Motherland the People's Republic of China (PRC).
    2.The local government of Tibet shall actively assist the PLA to enter Tibet and consolidate the national defenses.

    Northern Expedition

    A military campaign held to unify China under its own government by ending the Beiyang government and stripping power from local warlords. The expedition was lead by Kuomintang.

    Mukden Incident

    This was a a staged attack on a railroad station in south Manchuria. Lt. Kawamoto Suemori plant a small amount of dynamite on the trains track, but the explosion was so small it didn't ruin the track. Although the Japanese still blamed China for the explosion and invaded Manchuria.

    This was a series of marches which the first was from Jiangxi to Shaanxi.The March was used as propaganda for many Chinese to industrialize and feed China's people.

    Second Sino-Japanese War

    Sparked due to conflict between the Republic of China and the Japanese Empire. The war began to rise when the Japanese acquired help from the Germans. This war was also part of the Pacific War and World War II.

    Nanking Massacre

    Also known as the Rape of Nanking, this a killing and raping spree done by the Japanese in their efforts to capture Nanking. During this Masscre the Japanese managed to rape between 20,00 to 80,00 women.

    A movement led by Mao Zedong Chinese oficials make their way to Taiwan to claim their new capital.

    This was a movement meant to take China from an agrarian economy to a communist society. Movement was ran by Mao Zedong who used tactics like industrialization and collectivation to achieve this but ultimately it ended in theGreat Chinese Famine.

    People's Republic of China admitted to UN
    This was an agreement between the UN to admit the Republic of China and expel Taiwan. Although Taiwan was expelled from the mainland for many years they still considered themselves to be the one true government of China.

    Richard Nixon's visit to China set forth a very vital in the advance of the United State's relationship with China. It had become a metaphor used by people around the orld because of how it not only shifted the Cold War but allowed China to side with us against the Soviet Union.

    Arrested for conspiracy of treason, Yao Wenyuan, Jiang Qing, Zhang Chungqiao, Wang Hongwen, were taken into custody by China. They were labeled the two major "counter-revolutionary forces".

    A rule passed by the Chinese government saying the Chinese families could only have one child. This policy was implemented because of the massive population in China. There were slight exceptions for the ethnic minority of China.

    Being the first uproar against the Communist government, this was a protest held college students against the Communist government demanding better dorm conditions, better foods, and a democrary. The government declared Martial Law on the protesters and forced them to give up.

    Building of the Three Gorges Dam
    Being the world's largest power spanning from the Yangtze River to Sandouping. Originally envisioned by Sun Yat-sen and the International Development of China in 1919. This was used in an effort to push China forward.

    Hong Kong Returned to China
    For Years Hong Kong was ruled by Britain, it wasn't until this day that China got to reclaim this city. This action was also known as "the Handover" and as far as wars go it was actually a pretty peaceful trade off. The Chinese got Hong Kong back based on three treaties, the Treaty of Nanking, the Treaty of Beijing, and the Convention for the Extension of Hong KongTerritory.

    Macau Returned to China
    Macau was taken by the Portugese and wasn't returned until China appealed to the Special Committe of Decolonization after which Portugol withdrew troops from Macau and handed it back to China.

    Hainan Island incident
    An accidental air collision between a United States air craft and Chinese fighter jet. It was argued the the fighter jet bumped the wing of the air crafted but the initial report of the incident was obviously very ambiguous to whom was at fault.
