Chongzhen was the last emperor of the Ming dynasty. He committed suicide the same year that the Manchus took over Ming. -

Reign of Kangxi. He was the emperor of China, and he had one of the longest reigns in the Qin dynasty. -

The Qin dynasty continued Chinese bureaucracy. However, they began to corrupt it. Those in the bureaucracy (with wealth) bribed the exam givers. Those who actually had the intelectual characteristics needed and were disapporoved began to demonstrate due to the unfairness. -

White Lotus Rebellion was one of the many rebellions held during the Qin Dynasty. This rebellion was held by Buddhists who were mad over taxes and government corruption. -

The emperor of the dynasty sent one of the most distinguished oficials to fight with the Britians over the Opium. However, he was defeated. The emperor was forced to sue for peave and send him into exile. -
Opium War
Britian emperialism over China was the trade of Opium. When China began to realize than Opium was addicting and affecting the governement, China decided to abolish it. However, Britian did not want it to stop, so they went to war. China lost. -
Treaty of Nanjing
The Treaty of Nanjing was signed after the first opium war. Opium was still enforced into China. -
Taiping Rebellion
Taiping Rebellion was led by Hong Xiuguan. He had an army of Hakka women amed to destroy Qin forces. -
Self-Strenghning Movement
Movement aimed at countering the challenge from the west led by Qin officials, such as Zeug Guotan. These reforms wanted to root out corruption in the bureaucracy. -
Irrigation Neglection
Due to neglection of funds on irrigation and using the money on other things, the Huanghe emptied into the south sea of the peninsula. -
Boxer Rebellion
This rebellion meant to expel the foreigners from China. It was put down through the intervention of the imperialist powers in 1901, -

Empress Cixi was the last ruler of the Qin Dynasty. -
