China and Japan had a conflict known as the First Sino-Japanese War.This war was caused by Korea being a Chinese tributary state.The Korean king paid tribute to the Chinese emperor which made Japan mad.Japan ended up getting some papers signed about unfairness & more.Soon after,China sent in troops from Korea to end the rebellion in Japan without letting Japan know.Cleverly, Japan had a treaty signed against them that was against them attacking & used it against them and this started the war. -
The Aftermath of the War
The war didn't last long and they ended up losing.Due to this incident,the Chinese Empire was weakened. The Treaty of Shimonoseki ended Korea's tribute to China and made Korea a Japanese tributary state. Japan also ended up gained trading rights with multiple Chinese cities. After this, Japan ended up causing Pearl Harbor. -
