    Boxer Rebellion

    Secret society, named "The Society of Reighteous and Harmonious Fists", attacked the Europeans in China because they did not like the changes that were being made in the country. They were eventually defeated by 19,000 troops.
  • Proposal of Open Door Policy

    The US proposed that China should be open to foreign merchants and many European Countries agreed. The policy proctected the US trading rights in China.
  • Dowager Empress Sends Officials

    She sent these various officials to observe how other countries' governments functioned. They were sent to Japan, US, Russia, France, Germany, Britain, and Italy.
