The jesuit scholars
The jesuit scholars corrected calnedars, fix clocks, make cannons and more. They were even able to predict eclipses. Matteo Ricci and Adam Schall were two of the jesuit scholars. -
First Qing leader
The first leader of the Qing dynasty was Nurhaci. He ruled from 1616-1626. He was a very successful emperor. -
Manchu's enter China
The Ming government invited the Manchu's so that they could help them to stop a rebellion. When the Manchu's were finally inside of China they went to Beijing and took control. -
Manchu's changes to China
Around the 16th century was when the Manchu's made changed to China. They for example, lowered the taxes, they put themselves at the top of all of social classes. -
The fall of the Ming government
The Ming government invited the Manchu tribes to come into China so that they would helpn them stop a rebellion. After that the Manchu tribe marched into Beijing and took control. -
Manchu regime turns into Qing dynasty
Around the 17th century, the Manchu regime had taken the dynastic name of Qing. The changing of names happened before the Manchu regime took over China.

Christianity was banned
China wanted to only keep its culture, so it did not let christianity be a influence. The christian missonaries were also banned. -
The Canton trade
China was very isolated and did not want to trade with others. China did this because it wanted to keep its culture. The only trade going on was the Canton trade which had limits. -
Opium trade
The British merchants intoduced the drug called opium to the chinese. The chinese got really addicted to it and then were weak and so the British took advantage to take power over China. -
The first opium war
There was a war between China and the British. The war was caused by a disagreement that the British wanted to keep trading the opium. However, the chinese wanted to stop the exports. China lost the war and was forced to sign the Nanjing treaty. -
Taiping Rebellion
There was many rebellions in the Qing dynasty, but there was one in particular that had the greatest threat towards the Qing dynasty. The rebellion was called the Taiping Rebellion. It was from the 1850-1860. The rebellion was led by Hong Xiuquan, a menatlly unstable prophet. -
Westerners taking advantage of weak China.
Around the 19th century, the Westerners were taking advantage of China beacause it was weak form the governemnt corruption, economic dislocations, and social unrest. The Westerners forced the Chinese markets to open and reduced the Qing rulers to becoming puppets. -
The Boxer Rebellion
The boxers wanted to get rid of the Japanese and Europeans. So they made a rebellion that failed. And in consequence they had to apologize and China had to pay the costs of the rebellion. -
End of civil service exams
The civil service exams were not used anymore after the 1905. The civil service system was used to choose the bureaucrats for the bureacracy. However, there was cheating and favoritism within the exam system which caused the system to no longer function. -
The civil exam system fail
The civil service exam system was ended. It was ended because of bribery and cheating that was going on. The wealthy people believed that their sons should not take the exam because tehy are at a higher social class. -
Xuantong emperor
Xuantong was the last emperor that ruled the Qing dynasty. He was also known as Puyi. He ruled up to 1912 and was one of the most powerful provinvial lords. -
Qing dynasty decline
The Qing dynasty was toppled on 1911. The decline was caused by government corruption, weak military, food shortages, etc.
