General Augusto Pinochet and the United State's CIA team up to kill Pinochet in an attempt to eliminate Marxism. Pinochet takes Allende's place and establishes a brutal dictatorship. -

Frei becomes president and works towards reducing the military's power and influence in government. -
Pinochet arrested
Pinochet retires from the army, but is arrested in the United Kingdom on murder charges in Spain. -
Pinochet returns to Chili
Due to Pinochet's failing health, British Home Secretary Jack Straw decides that Pinochet is not well enough at the moment to go on trial.
