Age 1-3: The baby is accumulating more words as each month passes. Vocabulary is expanding.Utterances are often one, two or three words long and family members can usually understand them.
Ages 3-4: Sentences are becoming longer as your child can now combine four or more words. Sentences become more expressive talking about what happened during the day.
Ages 4-5: The child speaks clearly and fluently in an easy-to-listen-to voice. They can construct long and detailed sentences. -

Age 6-7: The child speaks in complex sentences and begins to read and write.
Age 8-9: The child is able to tell stories using more detail. They are able to think more critically and are curious.
Ages 10-12: The child is able to think about cause and effect more, present logical arguments and hold longer conversations with adults.
