Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
The treaty added 525,000 miles to US territory. Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming would become American territories. Rio Grande River becomes recognized as America's southern boundary. -
Formation of the League of United Latin American Citizens
Funded by a large variety of Mexican Americans in Texas. Their efforts worked towards Mexican American civil rights including desegregation in schools and equal working conditions. -

The murder of José Gallardo Díaz would lead L.A police to question 600 Chicano youths, and charge 17 Mexican Americans with the murder of Díaz.

Mendez V Westmister
Ruling in federal court that segregated schools based on ethnicity goes against the constitution. (Would later promote Brown V Board of Education that desegregated schools nationwide) -
Hernandez v Texas
Established equal protection under the law for Mexican Americans. (Mexican American Civil Rights Movement). -
The National Farm Workers Association (NFWA)
Ceaser Chavez and Dorles Hureta formed the NFWA (Which later became known as United Farm workers UFW). This organization would work to defend the rights of farmworkers. -
Watts Riots
After a man is pulled over for recklessly driving a riot ensues due to his arrest. These riots lasted 6 days. 34 people would have died by the end. -
The Delano Grape Strike
Sept 8, 1965, Filipino farm workers under the organization, Agricultural Workers Organization Committee struck ten grape vineyards. -
The Crusade for Justice
