Johnny Torrio: “Poppa Johnny”. An Italian-American mobster who helped build the criminal empire known as the Chicago Outfit in the 1920s that was later inherited by his protégé, Al Capone. -
Dion O'bannion and his rivals
Dion O’Bannion was an Irish-American mobster who was the main rival of Johnny Torrio and Al Capone during the brutal Chicago bootlegging wars of the 1920s. He was responsible for at least 25 murders. He was murdered by members of Capone's outfit later on. -
Bugs Moran was the leader of the North Siders.
The North Siders definitely had a war going on with Capone's gang. Moran was the gun man who tried to finish off John Torrio after an ambush where Torrio was hit four times but his gun misfired. Moran was also in the lead car in the famous car cavalcade that drove past Al Capone's Cicero headquarters, firing over 1000 shots into the building. Moran had a pathological hatred for Capone. -
