Trooper Kurut and the Illinois state police
Officer Kurut of the Illinois state police visits us. He describes his duties as a state trooper. Some of his duties include traffic patrol and keeping the state property and people safe. State troopers have handled events such as the NATO summit and the inaguration. There is a long tedious process to become a state trooper. Trooper Kurut also showed us standard gear that is used by state troopers. As well as gear used during special events. -
Senator Bill Cunningham
Senator Cummingham first spent 20 years working with the Cook County sheriff's department. Afterwards he became a member of the Illinois house of reprensentives. He then ran and won the vacant seat in the Illinois senate. -
Representative Flowers
Representative Mary Flowers has been on the Illinois house of representatives since 1985. She is a firm believer in children's needs and rights, fighting for working families, and many other things. When representative Flowers visited us she spoke of many bills she has fought to pass. These include bills like the Illinois managed care act. She also believes that Illinois should have it's own bank like North Dakota. -

Chicago and Springfield Global learners trip
This trip will teach the 7th grade class about the history of Chicago and Springfield as well as the life of Abraham Lincoln in Illinois. -
Chicago History Mueseum
The Chicago history mueseum educates and informs of the history of this city. Many exhibits lie in this mueseum from Chicago's first opera house Crosby,s opera house to the integrated school boycott. My group went to the crossroads to America. It tells of things like Chicago brought many immagrants to the riots the police handled and even Al Capone. Chicago is a very industrial city bringing stores like the Kalo, Marshall Field & Company, and Crate & Barrel. -
Springfield day 1
Today we followed a road to lincoln in his time in Illinois. From the first place he lived to him becoming president. We also visited the old state Capitol building in Springfield. Welearned that the way the state government of Illinois is run today was largely different from Lincoln's time period. We visted Lincoln's first home in Illinois as well as the World War 2, Korean, and vietnam war memorials. -
Springfield day 2
We visited the Illinois state capitol first. In the building we met speaker Michael Madigan, Governor Quinn, and Senator Bill Cunningham. We sat at the seats at the house of representatives seats. I sat at representative Welch's seat. On that day we also visited the Abraham Lincoln presedential museum. A beautiful museum filled with information on President lincoln. Lastly we visited Illinois state police training center The state police train to protect the people of Illinois. -
Pontiac Illinois
On our last day of the trip we visited Pontiac, Illinois. An 8th grade graduate of MPA and Vietnam war veteran started a war mueseum here. The museum has many uniforms, weapons, etc of WW2, the Korean war, the Vietnam war, and the Iraq-Afghanistan war.
