    Paleo

    The Paleo indians moved over large areas of water by foot or by the water. Early Paleo indians lived in central base camps for long periods of time.

    Archaic

    Archaic people were hunters and gatherers. They gathered turtles, fish, shellfish, birds and smaller mammals. They also lived in little groups of 20 to 50.

    Woodland

    Settlements became permanent in the Early Woodland. In the Middle Woodland settlements also became permanent and they also got larger. The late Woodlands earthen mounds were constructed in Georgia.

    Mississippian

    Mississippian indians grew a lot of their food in very little gardens using: stone axes, digging sticks, and fire. The things they grew were: corn, beans, squash, sunflowers, goosefoot,and more. They also ate wild animals such as: deer, turkey, and other small animals.

    Hernando de Soto

    He was the first european to explore what is now Georgia. De soto wanted to be the same as Spanish Francisco Pizzaro. When Hernando went back to spain Charles V granted him to explore and conquer Florida
  • Charter of 1732

    The Charter of 1732 was created because they felt like it was best way for the poor to have a new life. King George signed this charter. He signed it at the Savannah and Altmaha river.
  • Georgia Founded

    James Edward Oglethorpe and 20 other men named Georgia in honor of King George ll. Oglethorpe spent a lot of time in England with the poor.
  • Salzburgers Arrive

    The first group sailed from England to Georgia in 1734. They met James Oglethorpe and told them to go 25 miles on Ebenezer Creek.
  • Highland Scots Arrive

    On the northern bank of the Altamaha River they found New Inverness 60 miles south of Savannah.The Scots built a fort to replace Fort King George which was abandoned in 1732.

    John Reynolds

    He was a officer of the Royal Navy. He returned to back to England for a new command. His sponsor appointed Reynolds as the new governor of royal Georgia.

    Henry Ellis

    He was the explorer of Georgia. He went to Savannah Georgia to replace John Reynolds. He realized the major problems in the colonies.

    American Revolution

    Georgia people faced sets of problems before and the start of the American Revolution. Many georgians thought they needed the protection of british troops.
  • Austin Dabney

    Austin Dabney was a slave who fought in the American Revolutionary. He was the black soldier to particicpate in Battle of Kettle Creek.
  • Elijah Clarke/ Kettle Creek

    In this victory most of South Carolina and all of Gerogia fell to the British. Elijah and 30 men passed through the fight in the Carolinas.
  • Constitutional Convention

    Georgia's legislature had six representatives to the Convention in 1787. The two georgia delegates who signed the Constitution was Abraham Baldwin and William Few.
  • Georgia Ratifies Constitution

    Georgia ratified the constitution because more people were moving into Georgia. Georgia was the youngest state and it needed a strong government. Georgia became the 4th state to ratify the U.S constitution.
