Paleo
The Paleo Indians (The Clovis People) were the first to enter America. Paleo means ancient in Greek. They are extinct now but they were nomads, hunters, and gatherers. -

Archaic
The Archaic period is divided into three subperiods which are Early, Middle, and Late. The Early and Middle Archaic people were hunters and gatherers. The Late Archaic people traveled long distances to trade for exotic goods. -

The Woodland Indians were native americans that lived in eastern America. They spoke lots of different languages and dialects. Their cultural beliefs and way of life is almost the same as other indian tribes. -

Charter of 1732
The Charter of 1732 was a document granted to twenty trustees for the foundation of the colony of Georgia. The charter was signed by King George on June 7, 1732. -
Salzburgers Arrive
The Salzburgers were protestants who followed the teaching of Martin Luther. They boarded the ship Purysburg and sailed for Georgia on January 8, 1734. The ship arrived at the Savannah River where it was welcomed by General Oglethorpe. -
Highland Scots Arrive
The Highland Scots were Scottish people who were famed for their bravery in war. They helped win the Battle of the Bloody Marsh because of which the Spanish no longer laid claim on Georgia. -

John Reynolds
John Reynolds was a royal navy officer and Georgia's first royal governor. He established a structure of royal government, including courts, a council, and the Commons House of Assembly. He made some bad decisions as a governor because of which he finally had to resign and his position as governor was given to Henry Ellis. -

Henry Ellis
Henry Ellis replaced John Reynolds as Georgia's second royal governor. He settled the Mary Musgrove Bossomworth land disputes and planned the successful British take-over of Cuba. He played a key role in formulating American Policy. -

James Wright
James Wright was the third and last royal governor of Georgia. He played a key role in detaining the flame of the revolution in Georgia long after it had flared violently in every other colony. His rule finally ended when royal government in Georgia ended. -

American Revolution
The American Revolution was America's war for independence. The colonists had been fed up of British authorities so they began a war for independence. The war lasted for about 8 years but finally the colonists won. -
Austin Dabney
He was a slave who later on became a private in the Georgia militia. He fought against the British in the Revolutionary war. -
Elijah Clarke/Kettle Cr.
Elijah Clarke was a lieutenant colonel in the state minutemen. He led frontier guerrillas in imposing a heavy toll against the British and American loyalists at Musgrove's Mill, Cedar Springs, Wofford's Iron Works, Augusta, Fishdam Ford, Long Cane, and Blackstocks. He was irritated by the failures of the national and state government so he tried to take matters into his own hands but in vain. -
Constitutional Convention
The Constitutional Convention was a gathering that drafted the constitution of the United States. Delegates from five states met to discuss possible improvements to the Articles of Confederation. -
Georgia Ratifies Constitution
Georgia needed a strong government to help protect it from Indian threats and to acquire land from the Indians so Georgia called a special convention in Augusta. Delegates unanimously voted to ratify the U.S constitution. Georgia was the fourth state to ratify the constitution. -
Georgia Founded
Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe. James and 114 colonists spent two months crossing the Atlantic and finally founded Georgia.
