Archaic
The period was so long and had many cultural changes throughout the period that it was separated into three sub-periods Early, Middle, and Late. The archaic people were hunters and gatherers who most of the time lived from 20 to 50 people in each group. -

Woodland
The 3rd period of North American history began in the mid-western and Southern part of North America around the year 1200 BC. In about the year 500 AD the Hopewell culture stopped building mounds and stopped trading they also began to live in smaller villages. -

Mississippian
The Mississippians mostly lived off of the food they grew they also hunted but they mainly ate corn, beans,and squash. Mississippians lived in ranked societies in which their were 2 groups elites and commoners. -

Hernando de Soto was the first European Explorer to discover the Mississippi River. He discovered the Mississippi River in 1541. -

John Reynolds
For about 3 years John Reynolds served as the Royal Governor of the Province of Georgia. He was an officer in the Royal Navy and was Admiral shortly before his death. -

Henry Ellis was the 2nd royal governor of Georgia. Through his leadership Georgians learned how to govern themselves and they have since then. -
Georgia Founded
Georgia was founded by James Oglethorpe and 21 other men when they created a charter to settle a new colony which was named Georgia in honor of King George II. Georgia was the last of the original 13 American colonies. -
Charter of 1732
King George signed the Charter which established Georgia as a colony on April 21, 1732.The colonist all had the same rights as the englishmen. -
Salzburgers Arrive
The Salzburgers are a bunch of german speaking protestant colonists. They arrived to Georgia in 1734 and they recieved some support from King George II. -
Highland Scots Arrive
In early January 1736 the Highland Scots arrived in Savannah. Upon arrival James Oglethorpe gave orders to begin settling in the mouth of Altamaha. -

Austin Dabney
A slave who became a private in the Georgian militia against the British. He was the only black man to fight in the Battle of Kettle Creek. -
Elijah Clarke/Kettle Cr.
Elijah Clarke was the Lt. Colonel of Georgia and him and 2 other colonels led a militia of 340 people to victory over a militia of 700 loyalist militia. -
Constitutional Convention
It was held to to revise the Articles of the Confederation. The result was the creation of the U.S. constitution. -
Georgia Ratifies Constitution
Georgia had a convention to consider the constitution which was held in Augusta Georgia. On January 2,1788 the delegates voted unanimously to ratify the constitution which made Georgia the 4th state to do so.
