The paleo was subdivided into five regions.These provinces are known as the coastal plain,Piedmont blue ridge,valley and ridge,and Appalachian plateau.The oldest rocks in Ga are found in the Piedmont and blue ridge provinces.The metamorphism occurred about 1 billion years ago during mountain building event called grenville ontogeny. This ontogeny was accompanied by the intrusion of granite and other igneous rocks. -
