Presented 1st Major Discovery
At the Plinian, Darwin presented his own discovery that black spores found in oyster shells were the eggs of a skate leech. -
Cambridge
Studied Paley's Natural Theology or Evidences of the Existence and Attributes of the Deity, which made the argument for divine design in nature. -
Survey voyage
On the HMS Beagle a voyage that would last almost 5 years. On the Galapagos Island, Darwin would look for evidences attaching wildlife to an older centre of creation. -
The evolution of his Evolutionary Theory
During his voyage, Darwin would take note of the same birds on islands that would have changes of their looks. -
Theory of Natural Selection
Darwin realized that population explosions would lead to a struggle for resources and that the ensuing competition would eliminate the unfit. He would call this “natural selection” -
The Voyage of the Beagle
Charles Darwin wrote a book in which he shared his experiences during the voyage. Known as The Voyage of the Beagle, the book was published in 1839. -

Scientifc Papers on Natural Selection
In 1858, Alfred Wallace sent Darwin a essay that described the idea of natural selection he was working on. This lead to a joint presentation to the Linnean Society of London later in 1858. -
Evolution of Plants
The first of these books would be Fertilisation of Orchids which he published in 1862. It demonstrated the power of natural selection by explaining how complex ecological relationships resulted in the coevolution of orchids and insects. -
The Descent of Man
In 1871, Darwin would publish the book The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex. -
Darwin's Death
It was believed Darwin suffered from chronic Chargas disease, Darwin would be honoured by being buried in Westminster Abbey near John Herschel and Isaac Newton.
