A life spent under the writings of Alexander Von Humboldt's Personal Narrative, Darwin often wrote about his desire to adventure into the south of America and to sail the world. Fawning over stories of Humboldt circumnavigating the globe, managing the famous Orinoco River, and ascending Chimborazo and documenting in entirely new ways, plant life and local biology. Tortured by unrelenting seasickness long wished to return home, though through struggle came great findings.

Under the title On the Origin of Species subtitled By Means of Natural Selection, was Darwin's proposed theory of the natural occurrence of evolution in species through natural selective processes. Facing backlash and rejection by a select few of his old peers, caused grief on the now over 50-year-old Darwin. This never stopped him from defending his work, nor encouraging and continuing the progression of the science behind it.
