  • Charles Darwin Birth

    Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809. He was born in the tiny merchant town of Shrewsbury, England.
  • Charles Darwin attends college

    Charles Darwin, at age 16, enrolled at the University of Edinburgh with his brother. Two years later he transferred to Christ's College in Cambridge. Although Charles Darwin attends college to become a physician, he had to change career paths because he couldn't handle to the sight of blood.
  • Charles Darwin releases book

    On November 24, 1859 Charles Darwin released his explanation of evolution in his book "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection." This set the ground work for the next century. From this book we also got the idea of Darwinism. Darwinism is broken into 5 stages: probability and chance, the nature, power and scope of selection, adaptation and teleology, nominalism vs. essentialism about species, and the tempo and mode of evolutionary change.

    On April 19, 1882 Charles Darwin died at the age of 73. He was buried at Westminster Abbey. A couple of his great quotes are: "I see no good reason why the views given in this volume should shock the religious feelings of anyone."[In 'Origin of the Species'], and "If all men were dead, then monkeys make men. Men make angels" (Charles Darwin).
