  • Darwin visits the Galapagos Islands

    Darwin visits the Galapagos Islands
His visit to the Galapagos had opened his eyes because it challenged everything he was taught at the time. There were species of plants and animals that were similar to the ones on mainland South America, yet they had distinct differences. Then, it was believed that species were specific to certain lands and not able to be found anywhere else or be able to evolve, this is what caught his eye.

After many years of doubt, Darwin finally decided to publish his theory of evolution. He received major criticism and backlash from the public, mostly the Church. He proposed findings that directly attacked the teachings of religion at the time. Although he was doubtful of making his theory public, it was one of the most important discoveries in history.
  • The Effects of Natural Selection

    The Effects of Natural Selection
Darwinism changed the world, it uncovered the truth of evolution and discovered the origin of humans. Another benefit of Charles Darwin’s work was his teachings on the power of natural selection and mutations. He discovered that mutations can prove as beneficial to a society by allowing a species to adapt to environmental changes.
