  • Evolution By Natural Selection

    He began to keep his ideas and thoughts in a notebook. He completely believed that species could evolve which he called transmute. However he believed he needed to provide facts about this idea. “It at once struck me that under these circumstances favorable variations would tend to be preserved, and unfavorable ones to be destroyed. The result of this would be the formation of new species. Here, then, I had at last got a theory by which to work.” (Darwin, 1876)This lead to his key contribution.
  • Key Event: On the Origin Of Species

    The book On the Origin Of Species, became one of the most important books in the history of biology. After being released to the public 1,250 copies were quickly sold. The theory Charles Darwin had is that the environment makes the same selections as breeders would, picking the best qualities possible. From this came the saying "survival of the Fittest" meaning that those species that adapted to the environment would be the ones that would survive. 6 different versions of this book were made.
  • The Variation Of Animals and Plants under Domestication

    Charles wrote this with the fact that he felt the need to explain heredity. He proposed that heredity was the result from a process known as pangenesis. From this idea he then stated that humans are animals, and that we are members of the ape family and descended from them. Many people apposed too didn't like this theory of is, the opposition's to this theory continued over his lifetime.
  • The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals

    Darwin wanted to take a look into human psychology, to show that there is in fact similarities between human psychology, and animal psychology.
