    Charles Robert Darwin was born on February 12, 1809, in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. His parents were Robert Waring Darwin and Susannah Wedgwood. Father was a doctor and mother was a daughter of a Unitarian pottery industrialist.

  • Charles Darwin starts University

    Charles Darwin's father sent him to study medicine at Edinburgh University where he learned about rock formations and classify plants. During this period, he went to collect sea slugs and sea pens with Robert Edmond Grant, a radical evolutionist and French biologist Jean-Baptiste Lamarck. Grant became Darwin's mentor, teaching him about the growth and relationships of primitive marine invertebrates. Darwin announced his findings on the larval sea mat to his student societies.

    Darwin transfers colleges to Christ’s College, Cambridge due to the fact that Charles dislikes anatomy and can't stand surgeries. Darwin managed 10th place in Bachelor of Arts degree in 1831.

    Legendary Voyage

    Charles got the opportunity of a lifetime when he got asked to go on a voyage to Tierra del Fuego, South America. During his voyage he observed different species of animals in each region that were different based off the environment they were in. Also noted that coral reefs in different locations where different. Charles also came across slaves in Tierra del Fuego that unsettled him.
  • On the Origin of Species Published

    Darwin in his 50's now wrote his work into a book called "On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection". After the publication on November 22, 1859, a man by the name of Thomas Huxley defended Charles Darwin in debates due to Darwin not liking debates. The book goes into his beliefs of natural selection.

  • The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex

    Charles Darwin publishes a two-volume book called "The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex" published in March of 1871. These volumes were about evolution of civilization and human evolution. Darwin also goes through sexual selection which could account for the origin of human races.
