    HMS Beagle Voyage

Darwin just graduated college and went on this voyage to expand his knowledge in the geology field. By the end of this voyage he was made known as a geologist, fossil collector, and after his book "The Voyage of the Beagle" made him a renowned writer.
  • On the Origin of Species

This book was written by Charles Darwin and considered the building blocks of evolutionary theory and biology. It includes his famous theory of natural selection where he originally claimed that the better a species adapts to their environment is typically the one who survives and those who don't evolve to fit their environment eventually die out. The book ended up being very controversial to the English church because it did not line up with Christian beliefs.

  • The Descent of Man

This book applies to natural selection but in the way of human evolution. He discussed that mental traits are inherited just as physical traits are and how humans and animals such as apes, monkeys, and dogs are similar in behavior rather than physical appearance helping make the connection to evolution.
  • The Formation of Vegetable Mould Through the Action of Worms

This was the last of Darwin's work where he studied earthworm behavior and ecology. The constant theme between his works and still included in this one was that changed over long periods of time can have consequences. For this example he claimed that major earthworm activity could effect bioturbation that would affect soil in a negative way.

  • Effect on the World

Charles Darwin convinced the whole world to accept evolution as a fact. People to this day still poke at his theory. It is the most popular opinion on how humans became to be how they are. Darwin started a new wave of thinking and a new way to look into science sparking many scientists to revert from their old ways and to include what is now known as evolution.
