    Charles Darwin was born on February 12th, 1809. He was born the same day as Abraham Lincoln, Charles Darwin was born in the county of Shropshire, England.

    Darwin was sent an invitation to become as a naturalist abroad the Beagle. Darwin was only 22 years old when he set sail on the scientific expedition. Charles Darwin wrote a book called The Voyage of the beagle. There were different volumes written by different people about the voyage. The voyage was only suppose to last 2 years and it ended up lasting about 5 years long. He returned October 2nd, 1836.

The ship beagle was named after the dog beagle and was a navy ship. The different types of animals and plants led him to develop his theory of evolution and then wrote his book once he got back

    On January 29th, 1839 Charles Darwin got married to his first cousin Emma Darwin. They had their first son before the ending of that year. They eventually had 10 children and which only 7 of his 10 children made it to adulthood. Emma Wedgwood accepted Charles’s proposal on 11 November 1838 and then got married 3 months later.

    During Darwin’s voyage on the Beagle in 1832 he eventually wrote a book about the structure and distribution of coral reefs and added the first monograph in his book. In 1842 Darwin’s theory of the structure of coral reefs was published. The structure and distribution of coral reefs was one of 3 volumes of books that he wrote. When he was in South America he finished one of his first drafts on the book.

    In 1859 Charles Darwin was sent a manuscript by Alfred Russel Wallace and Darwin knew that he would beat him into print. So in 1859 Darwin published his theory about evolution and everyone knew him as the father of evolution. His book was called The Origin of Species. The theory of natural selection was first brought up in Darwin’s book. It is about how species adapted to their environment so that they can survive and adapt to their offspring.

    On April 19th, 1882 Charles Darwin has passed away due to congestive heart failure at Down house, Downe, United Kingdom. Charles Darwin had a popular saying “survival of the fittest”. Darwin has been having health problems sense his early 20’s. Darwin told his wife before his death that remember “how great of a wife he was to him and to tell his kids how great they were to me”.
