    Darwin's Education Darwin began attending Edinburgh University, where he was immersed in the scientific world. He heard radical ideas from other students and began getting involved in the scientific community there.

    Darwin's Education Darwin left Edinburgh University and started at Christ's College, Cambridge. He graduated in 1831 with a Bachelor of Art's degree. It was here that Darwin learned about botany from John Henslow, who would take him on the 5-year voyage that helped him to form his theory.

    The Voyage of the Beagle Darwin began the 5 year voyage that led him to make the observations that helped him start forming his theory. His mentor, and former professor, John Stevens Henslow, invited him along. Darwin observed similar species across multiple continents and made observations that further peaked his interest in evolution.

    Natural Selection Darwin published a book, explaining his theory in greater detail. He was very nervous about how his peers would react. He described the months after his book was published, as Hell, waiting for the world's reaction.
    Darwin, a shy man in the eyes of the public, had his good friend, Thomas Huxley, debate about his theory in public. Huxley apparently enjoyed public debate as much as Darwin despised it.
