  • The HMS Beagle

    The sailing of the HMS Beagle was a multi-year endeavor spanning from 12/271831 to 10/2/1836. During this trip Darwin spent most of the time on land examining and observing the local biology, anthropology and geology afforded him in the South America and Galapagos Islands. Most of his observations were written down in his personal journal which was sent regularly to his sister.
  • Publication of Travels

    The time spent from the end of the voyage to when his journal is finally published was some time. Darwin throughout this time was gaining support and reassessing his findings. Finally he was able to publish his journal and remark entries.
  • The Structure and Distribution of Coral Reefs

    In 1842 Darwin got published with the book The Structure and Distribution of Coral Reefs. This book described the overall geology and reef construction that Darwin observed on the voyage of the Beagle. Focusing on how the atolls were formed, the book follows many subsets of geology throughout the trip.
  • On The Origins of Species

    On The Origins of Species was published in 1859. It was the foundation of evolutionary biology and started what Darwin is best known for. It outright combatted the views of the church and defied what how evolution was viewed at the time.
