Formulating a theory
Darwin began to formulate his theory and being trials of experiments. He began to ask questions about evolution. He questions the resemblance of different animals and species. The work of Thomas Robert Malthus bought more ideas to Darwin. Roberts theory was that as population increased, eventually population would be bigger than the food supplies meaning it would be a fight for survival. This formulated his theory of which not the strongest animal will survive, but the one able to adapt. -
Competing for the spotlight
Charles Darwin in the years he spent studying, experimenting and finalizing his theory, he had never once published his work. Charles Darwin did not want the public to know his theory until he had concrete proof to back it. In 1858 Alfred Russel Wallace, another naturalist contacted Charles letting him know that he had reached the same conclusion, that natural selection produced evolution. Afraid of Wallace taking the spotlight, they agreed to a joint letter explaining their findings. -
The Origin of Species
Charles Darwin changed the world with the publishing of his theory. That diversity in all animals and humans come from a biological process and not from the hands of a deity. Natural selection, often known as survival of the fittest means that the species most able to adapt to its environment will have the highest chance of survival.
