27 December 1831 is when Charles Darwin's influence on the Philosophy of Science began. Charles Darwin created a journal on three topics Biology, Geology, and Anthropology for the trip. He set sail off the Plymouth Sound with Captain Robert Fitzroy. -
HMS Beagle Returns
Charles Darwin returns from HMS Beagle voyage. The voyage of the Beagle was set to last only two years, but it was on the voyage a mere five years. Although a majority of time was spent on land (three years, three months) eight teen months were spent on the ship at sea. Darwin revisited some areas two or three times just to get an accurate depiction. Charles Darwin published a book in 1839 called "The Voyage Of The Beagle" after his return foreshadowing his view on Natural Selection. -
On The Origin of Species
In 1859 Charles Darwin published "On The Origin of Species" a book about natural selection. Natural Selection is " the process in which organisms change in heritable physical or behavioral traits overtime". The publication of this book sparked the development of modern Biology which is still studied today. Before natural selection was discovered development was thought to be solely off of religious beliefs. This influenced many people due to the fact there is years and years of evidence. -
