  • Darwin reads Grandfathers Journal

In 1827, Darwin found and read his grandfathers, Erasmus Darwin, journal. The journal contained Erasmus' thoughts and musings about evolution, which started his thinking of evolution.
  • Darwin and the HMS Beagle

In 1831, just four years after giving thought to evolution, Darwin's uncle, Josiah Wedgewood II, wold convince Robert Darwin to allow Charles to sail on the HMS Beagle, on a voyage that would take 5 years. The trip would take him to the Galápagos Islands, where he would observe animals that had lived in isolation for many generations. This is where Darwin would come up with the Theory of Evolution.
  • Darwinism

After his trip to the Galapagos, Darwin would theorize that natural selection was how animals evolved, adapting to their current surroundings. Darwin would sit on this theory for almost 20 years. In 1859, he would publish his book "On the Origin Of Species". He would not have published this, if it wasn't for another young naturalist who published his similar work natural selection and evolution.
  • Death of Darwin

Darwin would live a long and fruitful life. His contributions to evolution and natural selection are still used to this day as cornerstone and foundation of the way we think of evolution. He would go on to publish more than 20 books on the subject. On Christmas Day, 1881, Darwin would have a heart attack. He would continue experincing seizures, until he passed away in April 1882, in his house. He would be buried at Westminster Abbey.
