  • Charles Darwin - Early Life

    Charles Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, England on February 12, 1809. He was the fifth of six children and grew up in a wealthy family. Though his father was a doctor and financier who envisioned a medical career for his son, however, Charles was more inclined toward nature. Despite starting medical school at the University of Edinburgh, Darwin switched to studying theology and natural history at Christ's College, Cambridge.
