Magna Carta
The Magna Carta was signed by King John in 1215. The Magna Carta was written to proctect fundamental rights. -
Petition of Right
The petition of Right limited the Kings power. The King could not punish any person but by lawful judgement -
Albany Plan of Union
The main purpose of the Albany Plan of Union was to talk about colonail trade. The annual congress of delegates, was purposed by Benjamin Franklin at the Albany Plan of Union. -
Boston Massacre
Due to the Stamp Act, violence erupted everywhere. Troops fired into a crowed and filled five people. -
Boston Tea Party
On decemeber 16, men dumped open tea chests into the Boston Harbor. This took place because the Colonies were protesting the tax on tea. -
Frist Continental Congress
Due to Parliament passing more and more laws, the Frist Continental Congress meet to discuss the laws. People such as Samuel Adams discussed plans of action. -
Second Continental Congress
Due to the British government, Congress got together for a second time. Before the Congress met, the Revolutionary War had begun. -
The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence wanted to limit government and give people their rights.Thomas Jefferson was the primary author. -
Articles of Confederation
During a 17 month span, Congress discussed uniting the States.
The Articles of Confederation were approved to unite the States on November 15, 1777 -
Shays' Rebellion
After the Revolutionary War, many farmers started to lose their farms due to taxes. Daniel Shays started an uprising aimed at several State judges. -
The New Jersey Plan
In the New Jersey Plan, the uincameral Congress was kept. Also, the plan limited the power to tax and trade. -
Philadelphia Convention
Delegates were sent to Philadelphia to frame the Constitution. 74 men were chosen to go, but only 55 attended. -
Virginia Plan
During the Virginia Plan the first plan for a new constitution was disucssed. Also, the three branches of the government we use today were purposed. -
English Bill of Rights
The English Bill of Rights gave the people the right to fair trail and the freedom from excessive bail. The US added to these rights to form its' own Bill of Rights.
