  • Booker T. Washington publishes "Up From Slavery

    DescriptionBooker Taliaferro Washington was an American educator, author, orator, and adviser to multiple presidents of the United States. Between 1890 and 1915, Washington was the dominant leader in the African American community and of the contemporary black elite.
  • Theodore Roosevelt Becomes President

    T.R. became president when President Mckinnley was shot while he was the Vice President.
  • W.E.B. DuBois established the Niagara Movement

    The Niagara Movement was a civil rights movement made up mostly of black lawyers.
  • Publication of the Jungle by Upton Sinclair

    The Jungle detailed the horrible conditions of factory workers in the meatpacking industry of Chicago. It caused the government to instate new regulations.
  • Passage of the Meat Inspection Act

    The Meat Inspection Act was passed as a direct result of the Jungle exposing the meat industry. It forced meat factories to have government regulators in every plant.

    The creation of the Food and Drug Administration was a direct result of the Jungle exposing the poor regulation of food in the US. The FDA is supposed to regulate the safety of our foods and drugs.

  • Triangle Shirtwaist Company Tragedy

    The Triangle Shirtwaist Company burned down, killing 145 factory workers.
  • 17th Amendment Ratified

    Allowed voters to cast direct votes for U.S. Senators. Prior to its passage, Senators were chosen by state legislatures. Each state legislature would elect two senators to 6-year terms.
  • Woodrow Wilson Elected President

    Woodrow Wilson defeated Taft and T.R. because the Republican Party was divided between the two.

    The Federal Reserve is a privately owned corporation that has been over inflating and ruining the U.S. Dollar since it was established. They are a bunch of crooks.

    After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited.

    The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
