The first steamboat made the very first trail on August 22, 1787 on the delaware river. This was made by John Fitch. He built a larger vessel and carried people from philadelphia and burlington, new jersey. -
Robert Fulton
Robert Fulton created his first steamboat after the death of john fitch. He was known as "father of steambost navigation". Then fulton had a conflict and begun to make guns and weapons and things of that such. -

by 1810 they started to carry goods from one country to another. The bad thing was the speed on these boats depended on how the current acted. -
First voyage
first voyage was on missisppi from new orleans to pittsburg. from here on steamboats began to dominate the rivers. people were amazed by the steamboats because of how people made trips in 25 days and then got to 8 days.
