    In 1895 the radio was invented by Gugliemo Marconi, an Italian inventor, who proved the feasibility of radio communication. He sent and received his first radio signal in Italy in 1895. He used radio waves and transmitted Morse Code. The radio because a big thing in the 1920s, most houses in the US and Europe had a radio. There were over 500 radio stations which featured a range of different genres such as music, sport and news.

    RCA Tape Cartridge
    he RCA tape cartridge was released in 1958 and was a magnetic tape. It had stereo quarter-inch reel-to-reel tape recording quality in a suitable format.
    The magnetic tape meant that you didn't have to wind up the thread for it to be played again. This tape offered 60 minutes of high-quality at home listening.

    Compact Disc
    A big change with the compact disc was that it can be read through the use of lasers, where the laser would bounce off the disc creating reflections which could be read through a sensor. Previously a magnetic tape had to be read mechanically. A compact disc could offer high sound quality and it opened a lot of doors for what device could be released next. The capacity is 80mins of audio.

    The song walkman was the world's first low-cost portable stereo. It features stereo playback, two headphone sockets, which allowed two people to listen at the same time and a button that activated a built-in microphone and allows someone to talk to another walkman. The walkman ran of AA batteries, which could be changed.

    MTV stands for 'Music Television' and first focused on music videos to help promote artists which was introduced by TV personalities. The music videos were primarily a rock genre and classical genre songs. In 1983, Michael Jackson's song 'Billie Jean' was premiered which broke the colour barrier for black people.

    MP3 Players
    The first MP3 player released was the 'MPMan F10' in 1998. The size of it was 91x70x165.5mm and overall had 32MB of Flash Storage, this could hold about 8 songs.
  • Ipod

    Ipod
    The first Ipod created by Apple was released in 2001. This let users download songs on their computer and add them to their Ipod. The biggest attraction with this Ipod was that it had a storage size of 5GB, which could hold up to 1000 songs.

    YouTube is a video sharing website, which allows anyone to upload any video they wish, flowing the YouTube video policy. Since its release in 2005, YouTube has the world's most popular online video site. It can allow small independent artists and big artists upload their music videos and songs for people to easily watch in high quality.

    SoundCloud is a global online audio distribution platform based in Berlin, Germany, that enables its users to upload, record, promote, and share their originally-created sounds. According to the company’s data, in December 2014, the service attracts more than 175 million unique monthly listeners, while content creators upload about 12 hours worth of audio every minute.

In June 2015 there were more than 75 million active users and 20 million has paid for the subscription. Music can be easily found by searching for an artist, album, genre. playlist, or record label

    Vimeo shares a similar concept as YouTube, where people can upload and share any video. It was first released in 2004 and became the first website to allow 720p high definition content. In 2013, it attracted over 100 million people a month and more than 22 million registered users.
