  • Stono Rebellion

    Stono Rebellion
    Stono Rebellion happened in South Carolina, September of 1739. In an effort to free himself and other slaves, Jemmy rebelled against white colonists by leading a group of armed slaves. As a result, several white colonists were killed. This rebellion led to the intervention by Militia men in a war that captured and executed most of the rebels slaves. The remaining slaves were sold to the West Indies.

  • The New York Conspiracy Trials of 1741

    The New York Conspiracy Trials of 1741
    With Tension and rumors after the Stono Rebellion of slave’s revolt led to the arrest, trial and execution of seventeen New Yorkers. These included thirteen black men publicly burned and four whites, hanged. The remaining slaves were sold to the West Indies, total of seventy slaves sold. There was little or no evidence to this conspiracy theory. This event brought about racial division that yielded to even greater violence and mal-treatment of the so called feared slave community by the British.

    After the Pontiac’s Rebellion, the Paxton Boys brutal incident and other conflicts in the frontier,(French and Indian war) the British government in a preventive measure to avoid another bloody incident issued the proclamation of 1763 that prevented white (British) settlement West of the proclamation line, Appalachian Mountains.

    In Philadelphia of 1776, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams had the support of congress and produced the Declaration of Independence to cut ties with the British. The Declaration of Independence served as model to many other countries and colonies to gain Independence from their colonists. Unfortunately the Declaration of Independence only expressed equality only amongst the whites back then.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris
    The Treaty was as a result of the American's war Victory at against the Great Britain in Yorktown Virginia. The British Parliament was all in favor to end the war against the Americans and they agreed to negotiate for peace. The Treaty was completed and signed in September of 1783 which finally recognized the Independence of the United States in the colonies.

    The War of 1812
    The British involvement In the Napoleonic War against the French led to another War of Independence by the American against Britain. The war did not affect the boundaries of the U.S. territory. The War of 1812 showed great significance which gave the Americans great pride to be identified with. As a result of the war the United States had an indisputable ties cut from Britain created opportunities for West expansion.
