The red scare was fed by Senator McCarthy which gave him much power, and was fed more with the action of the cold war. -

Eisenhower gets elected as republican president, mostly for his fresh eyes on politics. -
Civil Rights
The civil rights movements gained even more steam and was given more powers and leaders like Malcom X and Martin Luther King. -
Kennedy as President
Kennedy was elected as president, and created NASA as well as a stronger education system. He fed into Vietnam and opposed the Berlin wall that Russia made near the Iron Curtain.
