    Magna Carta
    The Magna Carta was written by 13th century barons. Its purpose was to limit King Johns power and to protect their rights. This is also noteworthy because it is the first time a king has ever been forced to do something. It still reamis part of the law of England and Whales. It is also important because it is one the the first examplaes that paved the way for constitutional law. It is also that other countries looked up to, when forming a nation.
  • Petition Of Right

    Petition Of Right
    The Petition Of Right is a document that sets boundaries around areas the King of England can not intervene on. Some of the petition's elements include, restrictions on non-Parliamentary taxation, forced billeting of soldiers, imprisonment without cause, and restricts the use of martial law. This document is a foundation for the English Civil War that awaits Britain. It is considered one of the most influential pieces of writing in England and all over the world.

    This act, passed by the British government, required Americans to pay a tax on any printed paper. This act was made to raise money. American colonists did not like that the british were taxing them from afar. They believed that if they could tax to raise money, they would tax in the future for more outrageous reasons.

    More and more british troops begin to stay in boston, which the native citizens did not like. Thsi tention led to 50 citisenz attacking a british sentinel. British troops are called and they begin to fight against the citisenz. This event is significant because it led directly to the American revolution. The governor made the british troops flee Boston, causing more tention, leading up to the war.

    The Tea Act was a a movement by the British to tax America in an illegal way. They reduced the price of tea for the american colonies, and taxing them in oder to pay the struggling british company that made the tea. Thsi event led to the infamous Boston tea party.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    1st Continental Congress
    Delegates met in Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There were a total of 56 delegates at the meeting. This meeting was held in responce to the intolorable acts. At the meeting they discussed a potential boycott of British trade. They also made a petition in order for King George III to readress those acts. They also called for a 2nd continental congress meeting in case there plans failed. Unfortunatly, there efforts did not achieve anything.

    2nd Continental Congress
    During this meeting, the American Revolutionary War had already began. Because of this, the congress focused there attention on the war effort. They also voted to create the Continental army. A part of this was to appoint a commanding general, which they chose Goerge Washington. This congress also played a significant role in the effort of independence. The congress approved the Declaration of independence on July 4th 1776,

    Common Sense is a pamphlet published by Thomas Paine. The pamphlet was first published without an author. This pamphlet is crucial to Americas develoment because it is the first written document that openly asks Britain for independence. It is also significant because of its writing style. It is written in a simpler way that the common people, his target audience, could read and understand. This two elemnets lead the pamphlet to success.

    A declration stating freedom from Britain for the 13 colonies. It states that they will form there own new nation called, The United States Of America. Its primary author is Thomas Jefferson. During this was signed, The colonies and Britain were already at war against eachother. This combined with the stamp act aswell as the townshed act, are just some reason for this declaration.

    The Townshed Duties were conducted by Charled Townshend. The Duties were charges made on imports in order to fund british officials in the American service. The items that were charged were lead, glass, and tea.

    The bill of rights were constructed by James Madison. It is a name for the first ten amendments that are found in the Constitution. These amendments are the foundation of basic rights for United Stes citizens. They were intended only for white men, excluding women and people of color. However, These amendements have grown for all people. They are still well alive today.
