At 9 years old, I developed appendicitis which led to an appendectomy. Complications, like peritonitis, led to my hospitalization at Rady's Children's Hospital. My mom (great-grandmother) could not drive, therefore, the nurses played a vital role in my childhood.

Chad, my boyfriend, was a current nursing student at Palomar College. He listened to my appendectomy story and how the nurses impacted my life and asked if I ever thought about being a nurse. The rest was history.
