Kongo Empire
The Kongo Empire lasted from 1550 to 1750. The Kongo empire was once a thriving empire but it started to decrease in population betweent the slave trade and many civil wars that occurred. Due to population decrease the empire could no longer thrive so it died off.

The slave port of Kasanje
As seen in other events on this timeline slave trade was a major part of Cental Africa. The number one port in Central Africa was Kasanje. Kasanje was an interesting port city because it contained the poeple of the Mbundu but was uled by the Imbangala causeing it to be a city of war at somtimes and caused some slow downs of the slave trade.

Population decrease
There was a time when the population of Africa decreasesd a lot because so many of the native people where being sold or kidnnaped into slavery. In addition to many slaves being exported Africa had a lot of famine and malnutrition due to the face that Africa was not as advanced or modern as many of the other places in the world.

Slaves for agriculture
During the slave trade Central Africa and really all of Africa traded slaves to America. In return for slaves some African empires/nations recived agricultural advancments. The advancements greatly helped reduce the famine that struck Africa because they could provide large amounts of food that were more nutritional that helped build stronger empires/nations.

Slave ports
The main export of Cental Africa was slaves. Slaves became the main export because they were the easiest thing to move and trasport as well as they were the only export that had been found in Central Africa that at this time the world powers wanted. Slave ports played a huge role in the exportation of slaves from Central Africa.

David Livingstone (1813-73)
David Livingstone was a missionary that was trying to establish Christianity but failed. In doing so he ended up exploring much of Central Africa and heled the world get a better understanding of what Africa consisted of. He also was one of the main people to start the idea that slavery and slave trade could be abolished.

Forced labor
At this time there were many differnet force labor systems in Central Africa. These systems mainly revolved around slaves. Also since Europeans were colonizing Africa the native people where forced to do most of the labor. Many slaves were also shipped back to Europe because when African empires were taken over the Europeans were like look free slaves.

Belgium enters Central Africa
IN 1876 Leopold II of Belgim entered Cental Africa specifically the Congo. Leopold went to the Congo with "The Scramble for Africa". His intentions were to help develop the Congo and make them a better nation but actually took over the Congo and ended up ruling them. This was really the only big change in power for this region.

Infrastructure growth
Even though Leopold the second was a ruthless leader he did expand/build a road and railway system. This gratly helped bring Central Africa together. It also helped them compete and catch up with the rest of the world in terms of technology. Even though Leopold the second was not the greatest ruler but he did help grow the Infrastructre.

Slave Trade ends
Slaves were the main source of industry at the begining of this time. The slave trade was a big thing in the late eighteenth century and early ninteenth century. When the slave trade ended because slavery was beginning to be frowned upon, Central Africa took a huge hit in their economy because that was their main export.
